SCAR TREATMENTS

Scars are complex and often need a combination of treatments rather than a single solution. In our clinic, UltraClear™ laser is one of several advanced modalities we can use to improve the appearance, comfort, and function of scarred skin, alongside energy‑based, injectable, surgical, and topical options.

Our multimodal approach to scars

Depending on the type, age, and location of the scar, your plan may include one or a combination of the following:

  • UltraClear™ laser:  Used to resurface, remodel, or “core” scar tissue to improve texture, blending, and tightness, particularly for acne scars, surgical scars, self‑harm scars, and some burn or hypertrophic scars.
  • Plexr softsurgery (plasma sublimation):  Helpful for very precise tightening and surface refinement in delicate areas, or to smooth fine, raised edges of certain scars without traditional surgery.
  • Injected treatments:  This may include corticosteroids or other injectables to soften raised or thickened scars, and bio‑regenerative injectables to support healthier collagen and skin quality around atrophic or indented scars.
  • Microneedling (e.g. SkinPen):  Creates controlled micro‑injuries to stimulate collagen, often used for more diffuse, textural acne scarring or to complement other modalities between sessions.
  • Photobiomodulation / lightbased therapies (e.g. Kleresca):  Used to reduce inflammation, support wound healing, and enhance collagen remodelling as part of a broader scar program.
  • Bioregeneration options:  Including collagen‑stimulating injectables and/or targeted topical protocols to improve the dermal matrix so scars appear softer and less visible over time.
  • Neuromodulation treatments:  Small doses of neuromodulators can sometimes be used around scars that are being pulled or distorted by muscle activity, helping to reduce tension on the scar and improve its final appearance.
  • Surgical excision or revision:  In selected cases, removing and re‑closing the scar (sometimes combined with other therapies) may be considered as one of the options to improve contour and blending, particularly for certain linear or problematic scars.
  • Nonsurgical flattening options:  Such as silicone scar tapes, silicone gels, pressure therapy, massage protocols, and supportive dressings that help flatten and soften scars over time and can be used alongside in‑clinic procedures.

Planning your scar treatment

Every scar and every patient is different. During your consultation we will:

  • Assess the scar type, location, and behaviour (for example, raised, indented, tight, or pigmented)
  • Discuss your goals—appearance, comfort, movement, or a combination of these
  • Recommend a staged plan that may include UltraClear laser, other in‑clinic treatments, or a combination of approaches tailored to your needs
  • Explain expected downtime, after‑care, and the likely number of sessions
  • Provide written advice on non‑surgical support options (silicone tapes, gels, massage, sun protection, and skin care) to optimise your result

Important note on results

Scar treatments aim to improve the look and feel of scars, not to erase them completely. Outcomes depend on factors such as scar type, age and depth, location, skin type, health, and how closely after‑care is followed. Improvements are usually gradual and occur over a series of treatments and months of healing. Individual results may vary.

Types of scars we can help with

We work with a wide range of scar types on both the face and body, including:

  • Acne scars

Including ice‑pick scars, boxcar scars, rolling scars, and more superficial indentations.

  • Pigmented scarring and post‑inflammatory marks

Dark or discoloured areas after acne or injury.

  • Self‑harm scars

On the arms, legs, or other areas

  • Surgical scars

For example, breast, abdominal, facial, or orthopaedic surgery.

  • Hypertrophic scars

These are raised and thickened within the wound boundary

  • Burn scars and post‑traumatic scars
