The Emsella Chair

A cutting-edge medical device that stimulates the pelvic floor muscles.

If you’ve ever experienced urinary incontinence, struggled with bladder control, or noticed changes in sexual satisfaction, you’re not alone. These issues affect millions of men and women, often due to weakened pelvic floor muscles. The Emsella Chair offers a revolutionary, non-invasive solution to strengthen these muscles and restore confidence—without surgery, medication, or downtime.

So, what is the Emsella Chair?

The Emsella Chair is a cutting-edge medical device that uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles. By sitting fully clothed in the chair for about 28–30 minutes per session, you experience thousands of powerful muscle contractions—equivalent to over 11,000 Kegel exercises—without any effort on your part.

This targeted approach helps restore neuromuscular control, strengthens the pelvic floor, and improves bladder and bowel function. The treatment is completely non-invasive and painless. Simply sit comfortably on the chair while the technology works for you. There are no pelvic exams or recovery time required, so you can return to your usual activities immediately after each session.

Emsella is suitable for both men and women of all ages who experience:

  • Urinary incontinence (stress or urgency)
  • Postpartum pelvic floor weakness
  • Vaginal laxity and decreased sexual sensation
  • Sexual dysfunction (improved function and satisfaction)
  • Pelvic floor weakness

For women, Emsella helps with stress urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, vaginal laxity, improved sexual satisfaction and a stronger pelvic floor. Whereas for men, the treatment supports better bladder control, reduces symptoms of erectile dysfunction, enhances sexual performance, strengthens pelvic floor.

For optimal results, most clinics recommend:

  • 6 sessions over 3 weeks
  • 2 sessions per week
  • 28–30 minutes per session

Clinical studies indicate that many patients experience measurable improvement in pelvic floor strength and reduction of incontinence symptoms after only a few Emsella sessions. These therapeutic effects can persist for several months following the initial treatment series. Periodic maintenance sessions are recommended to optimise and prolong clinical outcomes and, combining Emsella with pelvic floor exercises and a healthy lifestyle can further enhance results and support long-term pelvic health.

In Australia, the Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) provides financial assistance to those with permanent and severe incontinence, helping cover the cost of continence products. The current CAPS payment is $650.40 per year, paid annually or bi-annually.* Additional support may be available through state programs or the NDIS for those with disabilities.

*CAPS payment information correct as at June 2025.

You can return to your normal activities immediately after an Emsella session, as there is no downtime required. While Emsella is not suitable during pregnancy, it can be an excellent option to strengthen your pelvic floor before becoming pregnant, helping to support your body throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
